Program Description:
This hands-on workshop is designed for local farmers, gardeners, and anyone interested in adopting sustainable agricultural practices. Led by experts in the field, participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to implement eco-friendly farming techniques.
- 9:00 AM – Registration and Welcome Coffee: Participants check in and enjoy a light breakfast while networking with fellow attendees.
- 9:30 AM – Introduction to Sustainable Farming: An overview of sustainable agriculture principles, including soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation.
- 10:30 AM – Soil Health and Composting: A session on improving soil fertility through composting, mulching, and organic amendments. Participants will learn how to create and maintain healthy soil ecosystems.
- 12:00 PM – Lunch Break: A locally sourced, organic lunch will be provided, featuring dishes made from seasonal ingredients.
- 1:00 PM – Integrated Pest Management: Techniques for managing pests and diseases without relying on chemical pesticides, including the use of beneficial insects and natural repellents.
- 2:30 PM – Agroforestry Practices: An exploration of agroforestry systems that integrate trees and shrubs into agricultural landscapes to enhance biodiversity and productivity.
- 4:00 PM – Q&A and Networking: The workshop concludes with a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to discuss specific challenges and share experiences.
